This Springfield Armory manufactured shorter butt plate screw is for the trapdoor rifle in 45-70 Govt. caliber and is in very good condition exhibiting a grayish brown patina with light slot wear. (file photo)
Note: trapdoor rifles and carbines with serial numbers above circa 75,000 used this shorter screw for the upper (heel) hole.
